Eric Pervukhin, born and raised in Moscow, Russia, has international exposure
as a painter, printmaker, photographer, and designer. He immigrated to the
United States 20 years ago as a political refugee due to, among other reasons,
extreme censorship. In America he obtained work immediately as an artist,
and consequently, was immediately censored. His work attempts to display
the truth in paradox and complexity: religion and cruelty, social comforts
turning strangely into misery, seriously taken ideals exploding into hilarity.
His provocative and disturbing work delves into Christianity, politics and the
root of basic humanity with exquisite portrayals of the 'necessity and yet brutality
of our attempts to have hope in the future'.
